Standards and Practices Committee Member
The Standards & Practices Committee establishes best practices. Their mission is to define and codify standards of practice in neurodiagnostics that promote professional growth, excellence, and quality patient care; to provide a model for individual practice and laboratory policies and procedures; and to provide consistent standards for neurodiagnostic modalities. The committee members develop ASET competencies, job descriptions, evaluation checklists, guidelines, and position statements. They proactively evaluate existing practices and respond to new developments or issues in the profession when guidance is needed. The committee may also assemble work groups of subject-matter experts to complete projects.
Volunteer members participate in discussion and document development at biweekly meetings. Most of the committee’s work is completed synchronously during meetings, but members are occasionally asked to asynchronously review documents and submit comments.
3 hours per month.
A volunteer in the ASET Standards and Practices Committee helps define best practices that support professional excellence and quality patient care in neurodiagnostics. By developing competencies, guidelines, and position statements, committee members provide essential resources for individual practice and laboratory policies. They proactively assess existing standards, address emerging issues, and respond swiftly to urgent needs. Their contributions strengthen the profession, enhance patient safety, and support ASET’s mission of leadership, advocacy, and resource development.
- Candidates with credentials in two neurodiagnostic modalities are preferred. Given the current composition of the committee, individuals with the following credential combinations are especially needed:

R. EEG T. + RPSGT or RST
R. EEG T. + R. EP T. - At least one year of experience as a technical supervisor, manager, or director is preferred.
- At least six months of experience serving on an ASET committee or task force with a history of good attendance is preferred; Service on committees of candidates’ employers or related organizations will also be considered.
