What is a strategic plan?
A strategic plan is a working document that helps a Board of Trustees chart a course for the organization by identifying priorities for a certain time period. The following strategic plan was crafted based on member input and with careful deliberation to accommodate the growing numbers and diversity of ASET’s membership. The ASET Strategic Plan, which spans from 2024-2027, was approved by the ASET Board of Trustees in April 2024.
The plan has four categories:
Membership
Goal: The value of ASET membership is defined and demonstrated to our diverse, inclusive neurodiagnostic professional community.
- Strategy 1 – Expand and promote access for all individuals, including underrepresented and marginalized individuals, to become neurodiagnostic technologists.
- Strategy 2 – Identify deficiencies in membership representation to determine the value propositions by category (i.e., career stage/modality).
- Strategy 3 – Support and encourage new volunteers in all stages of career development.
Education
Goal: ASET is recognized as a preferred source for comprehensive, quality neurodiagnostic education and professional development.
- Strategy 1 – Develop and expand the pipeline of new educational courses and (either programs or professional development), incorporating the most recent research, emerging technologies, and innovations.
- Strategy 2 – Promote awareness of existing funding opportunities available through the ASET Foundation.
Advocacy
Goal: The value and definitions of the neurodiagnostic profession, scope of practice, and credentialing are widely adopted.
- Strategy 1 – Coach ASET members and chapters to prioritize advocacy for the profession with employers, governmental entities, and elected officials.
- Strategy 2 – Increase inter-societal collaboration to achieve common advocacy, including public policy, and other objectives within coalitions and with specific entities (e.g., ABRET, ACNS, AES, ASNM, CAHEP, Committee on Accreditation, and NAEC).
- Strategy 3 – Seek recognition of registry as the standard by CMS and employers.
Emerging Technology
Goal: Neurodiagnostic technologists enhance their value, expand patient access, and improve quality care by maintaining awareness of and evolving with emerging technologies and best practices.
- Strategy 1 – Build awareness of the utility of emerging technologies in the neurodiagnostic profession.
- Strategy 2 – Foster greater understanding of how to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies in neurodiagnostic practice.
- Strategy 3 – Develop or update policies and best practices guidelines for emerging technologies.
