This ASET position statement emphasizes that competent recording of neurodiagnostic procedures requires a significant degree of independent judgment, necessitating a balance of both neurodiagnostic technology education and practical clinical experience to develop an adequate knowledge base.
Specifically, ASET recommends that those performing neurodiagnostic procedures either complete a neurodiagnostic technology program reviewed by CoA-NDT and accredited by CAAHEP, or hold an Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
Furthermore, it is strongly recommended that individuals possess a credential in a specific neurodiagnostic specialty from a relevant credentialing board and if an individual lacks this credential upon hiring, ASET suggests establishing a deadline with the employer to obtain it.
