As a neurodiagnostic technologist at the All India Institute of Medical Science in New Delhi, Sachin brings expertise in routine, ambulatory, and ICU continuous EEG monitoring. He also works with the Suri Foundation to help raise awareness of and access to neurodiagnostic services. This spring, Sachin achieved a major milestone as a first-time author with his publication of “Occipital Needle-Like Spikes in a Visually Intact Child with Dystonia (Ambulatory EEG)” in The Neurodiagnostic Journal.

“Consistency, patience, and continuous learning are key in this field,” he said. “Stay curious, keep learning, and always focus on quality and compassion in your work. This field offers great opportunities to make a meaningful difference.”

Through research, training, and knowledge sharing, Sachin hopes to improve EEG practices and increase awareness about advanced EEG techniques in India. This, he says, will support better diagnostic accuracy and patient care in epilepsy and neurological disorders. Read more below from our interview with Sachin!

What inspired you to pursue neurodiagnostics?

My inspiration came from a deep interest in the brain and its complex functions. Seeing how EEG can help diagnose and improve the lives of patients with epilepsy and neurological disorders motivated me to pursue neurodiagnostics.

Please describe one or two of your favorite career moments.

One of my most memorable career moments was successfully identifying critical EEG findings that helped in the timely diagnosis and management of a patient in the ICU. It was rewarding to see how EEG directly impacted patient care. Another proud moment was contributing to research and publications in neurodiagnostics, especially in ambulatory EEG and ICU monitoring, and presenting my work at national and international conferences.

How has ASET been part of your journey?

ASET has played an important role in my professional growth by providing access to updated information, guidelines, and a global neurodiagnostic community. It has helped me stay current with best practices in EEG and improve my technical and clinical skills. Being connected with ASET has also been motivating, as it highlights the value and impact of neurodiagnostic professionals worldwide.

What is on the industry’s horizon that could be game-changing and how do we best prepare for it?

The future of neurodiagnostics lies in AI, advanced EEG technology, and portable monitoring systems. To prepare, we must keep learning, adapt to new technologies, and strengthen our core EEG skills.

What is the key to delivering quality care in this profession?

Technical accuracy, attention to detail, and patient-centered care. Proper electrode placement, artifact recognition, and careful monitoring are essential for reliable results. At the same time, clear communication, patience, and empathy toward patients ensure a comfortable experience and better outcomes.
