Sharpen your pattern recognition skills by enrolling in these one-hour, interactive sessions presented over a 4-week period. Participants will learn how to apply proven methods to identify waveforms and patterns based on frequency, location and other important distinguishing features. This course will begin with introductory concepts and move to advanced technical descriptions. This course is designed for Neurodiagnostic technologists who want more formal instruction and is ideal for those new to the field, anyone preparing for their EEG exam, or technologists who want to brush up on their skills.
Week 1 Intro to the EEG:
We will provide an overview of montages, filters, and sensitivity. Additionally, we will discuss how to look at the EEG holistically and apply an organized approach to pattern recognition. Lastly, we will examine how to record a routine EEG in accordance with the ACNS Guidelines.
Week 2 Basic EEG Patterns:
This week will focus on normal and abnormal EEG patterns.
Weeks 3 Advanced Pattern Recognition part 1:
Topics this week include more complex patterns, terminology, and clinical correlates.
Week 4 Advanced Pattern Recognition part 2
This week will be dedicated to case studies to highlight the importance of strong pattern recognition skills and will build on combined concepts from the previous 3 weeks.
