NCS 209: NCS Troubleshooting and Overview of Basic EMG

This course is designed to help the technologist develop skills to troubleshoot the NCS instrument; resolve difficult NCS testing; recognize anomalies and variations of normal nerve pathways; list technical factors affecting nerve conduction study results; minimize the effects of technical factors; define the common anomalous innervations affecting nerve conduction studies; recognize the physiological factors that can influence NCS measurements; recognize the effect of electrode placement and application on nerve conduction studies; describe the effect of instrument settings on NCS measurements; recognize anomalous innervations when performing NCS. Technologists will also be introduced to EMG testing for the purpose of understanding how the NCS and EMG compliment each other.
