LTM 108: Long-Term Monitoring for Epilepsy

Designed to prepare participants with the skills needed to provide long term monitoring for epilepsy, including recordings from scalp and implanted grid, strip and depth electrodes that have been surgically placed. This course includes the role of the LTM technologist and the IONM technologist who are likely to be one and the same, taking the patient from the LTM Unit to surgery for placement of electrodes and/or surgical removal of tumor or epileptogenic focus, and monitoring post-surgery. Important: For a more in-depth study of electrocorticography and functional brain mapping, see IONM – 110. There is some cross over of IONM and LTM when the patient goes into surgery.
Electrocorticography and functional cortical mapping is covered in the ABRET CLTM and CNIM exams.
