Epilepsy with eyelid myoclonia (EEM) (previously known as Jeavons syndrome) is a rare but underrecognized and frequently misdiagnosed generalized epilepsy syndrome. The syndrome consists of the following triad: 1. eyelid myoclonia (EM) with or without absence seizures, 2. eye-closure induced seizures or EEG paroxysms, 3. photosensitivity. The EEG features of this syndrome are important to recognize and critical for making the appropriate diagnosis. This course will review the clinical features and EEG findings in patients with EEM.
Learning objectives:
1. Recognize clinical features of epilepsy with eyelid myoclonia.
2. Review ictal and interictal EEG findings in epilepsy with eyelid myoclonia.
