1. Why do you want to serve as a trustee?
I want to give back to the organization that has given me so much over the years. At this point in my career, I have learned and experienced many aspects of NDT. I began as a student in a seated NDT program. From there, I worked as a tech at a Children’s Hospital and then moved up to a management position running a lab at another hospital. I then moved into the private sector to do in-home Video EEG setups as well as review EEG data and write technical impressions for physicians. I am currently the Director of Clinical Quality Assurance for a company that employs and trains various levels of NDT professionals. In addition, I work with many hospitals across the country where I assist In Implementing remote EEG monitoring programs, so I have a solid understanding of existing struggles with staffing and the requirements needed to deliver quality care and meet accreditation standards. I also educate and train students and interview many technologists seeking new positions, so I understand the perspectives of those that are very new to NDT and those that are Interested in career growth. I believe I have a depth of understanding of our profession as a whole and I would like to take this experience and knowledge to the Executive Committee of ASET and utilize it to benefit the membership and assist in propelling the field forward.2. How would you define your role as trustee in the context of the current Board job descriptions?
The position of Secretary-Treasurer serves the membership by accurately documenting the operations and financials of the society. I will commit to serving the society in this capacity with honesty and integrity.3. What are the unique skills you possess that would benefit you in your tenure as a BOT
member? How did you develop those skills?
I am a leader who Is very well organized and can effectively prioritize and multi-task. I am an astute listener who pays attention to detail. I ask many questions and seek to understand others before offering my own opinion. I have a depth of experience in various aspects of the field and I understand the needs of students, technologists, and hospitals across the country. I have developed these skills over 20+ years in Neurodiagnostics working in hospitals and in patient homes as a technologist and as a manager reading and training others. As a former member of the ASET BOT, I understand the role and responsibilities and am fully prepared to deliver to the society.4. What qualities do you feel are important for a BOT member to possess? What experiences have helped you to develop these qualities?
The qualities of leadership and Integrity are most important. I have developed these qualities over many years working in various capacities across different types of systems. I have worked with all levels of NDT staff and understand what It takes to deliver quality EEG care and contribute to a team. I have formerly served as a member of the Board of Trustees for ASET, so I am familiar with the operations and goals of the BOT and the executive committee and believe I am fully capable of carrying out the duties of Secretary- Treasurer.5. ASET is actively working to promote increased membership benefits, advocacy, and offer multiple educational opportunities. What other important STRATEGIC goals would you have for ASET if elected?
I would like to help move the society and the profession forward in regards to elevating the skill sets of our technologists and encouraging the mindset that we are capable of so much more than measurement and electrode application. We have existing job descriptions, best practices, and career ladders, but I would like to see us also focus on providing education and training for growth in the higher-level skills of remote monitoring, pattern recognition and notification to physicians, report writing, management, research, mentoring/teaching and overall professional development. -
