The goal of this course is to prepare the advanced neurodiagnostic technologist for the complex ethical issues that sometimes present themselves in the long term monitoring (LTM) of patients. It also prepares the LTM technologist to take an adequate history, provide a safe environment for the patient, integrate HIPAA privacy regulations into the management of the LTM unit, handle issues of harassment and discrimination, and determine those issues that should be reported and to whom.
Required reading: Literature is provided. No additional books or materials required.
Experience level(s): Advanced. This course is an excellent preparation for advanced technologists preparing to take the credentialing exam or is in need of continuing education to refresh their skills.
Schedule: Ten lessons, five quizzes, discussion assignments to participate in, and a comprehensive final exam.
